and the parade is a brand by ashley jerman, specializing in jewelry design + fabrication.

ashley has been making bold adornments + considerate  garment ornamentation from a young age. she started drawing inspiration from high mountain lakes and opaline watering holes in missoula, montana where she moved from new york in 2005, eliciting a deeper exploration in her craft. the pristine, glassy lakes found high in the mountains + the craggy mountainous terrain are much like the juxtaposition of fine, faceted precious stones and exposed, raw natural materials that ashley uses in her work.

ashley makes jewelry that’s as dynamic as the women who wear it. when we want our jewelry to cause a sensation, we love making large statement pieces, but ashley is most interested in creating adornments that become staples in a woman’s collection; elegant jewelry easy to wear everyday. and the parade jewelry is strong + streamlined in design, unmistakable for anything but their namesake creation.

some  save china + silver for only the most special affairs, but ashley remembers her great grandmother using her finest china and silver cutlery for all types of occasions; whether it was playing cards or drinking sun tea on the back porch. this is how we think about our jewelry. to ashley, and the parade jewelry is something like a sacrament, an offering of a talisman to wear and hold sentiment near; something that’s special enough to wear everyday.

ashley recently moved from seattle, washington to richmond, virginia, where she lives and works in her studio on an island in the james river. she spends her summers in montana, swimming in rivers, sailing lawless waters, making dioramas, and sauntering through tall wild grasses.
